It was quite recently uploaded, so many of you might not have seen it, but you all know who made it:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPtjQzT ... e=youtu.be

Give it a watch, I think we should make an open response here on the forum. I'll message the idiot who made this.

Honestly, I don't see what's wrong with that video. It's better than Wikipedia or Britannica, which try to be "neutral" towards the anti-nuclear movement, and therefore give a lot of undeserved credibility to it.

haha just awful, what did ScholarRed have to say for themselves?

Yeah no was very slick. Looks like Unnatural Vegan even ripped this guy off.

I dont think the death toll figures are quite right though, Chernobyl was billowing radioactive smoke from its core for weeks, so likely many more died of cancer, the citys within sight that they didnt evacuate for weeks and then there were 10s of 1000s involved in clean up and the miners digging directly under the reactor. Should watch the 5 episode TV series on the events, it was an amazing watch. And with Fukashima, there was one death by lung cancer and it would have been good to mention the few more likely reduced life expectancy from damaged cells.

My only issue is in cases of mis-management and individual companies profiting too much by being a monopoly, so being able to force the taxpayers to pay the decommission. Also you didnt mention tidal power, which is often less impactful on local ecology than hydro, but yea I acknowledge same problem of it being geo-specific.

For Fukushima, my point was that the explosion itself (again, not by the nuclear reactor) didn't claim any lives. At most, if you want to take into account everything, it's only 2 (OMG nUkLeAr eNeRgY Is sO DaNgErOuS WtF).

That's why government regulation is important (and as I mentioned, it's kinda overregulated).

As for tidal, I kinda lumped it together with hydro. Speaking of hydro, I should have mentioned the methane released...

I wanna see what @brimstoneSalad @Lay Vegan @miniboes think.

I posted it on reddit and a guy on there is pretty patronizing. I'm not saying he's wrong, I'm valuing his critiques, it's just the way he makes it come off.

Oh yeah and someone there said something about supergrids in regard to solar and wind. Anyone here know about those? Would a lot of energy be lost sending around the energy?

Good job Red!

Don't confuse likely cancer cases with deaths. Thyroid cancer is very treatable, and they cranked up screenings like crazy. Unlikely any significant number of deaths in cities. Now hillbillies who are paranoid of the government and don't go to doctors when they get a big lump, maybe...

Yeah, the problem is that we just don't have any credible info on the numbers or doses they got. There's no evidence I know of showing increased mortality, though, vs. any other terrible job. Kind of a difficult position to be in since we just have no idea what the baseline looks like or who all was affected and how much.

Better evidence shows alcoholism and deaths from mass displacement, but that's another matter. Again just a case of fear doing more damage than the thing itself.

Thanks brimstone, I think I made a few mistakes though.
I'm gonna make an improved version (I might have you guys read over it), and I'll bring up EROEI especially, and go into nuclear waste more, but I'll do that if the video gets popular.

I'm working on my next video right now about climate change.

At 4:20 did you mean coal and gas or oil?

Your speech has gotten much less sarcastic, have you been working on that?

Well I put that wind and coal were cheaper than advanced nuclear.

I don't know now. Is nuclear cheaper than the fossil fuels?
