Are you in public school now?
Yes I am!

Have you had any interesting experiences with theists?

Ah, great. :D

Yeah, mostly with my parents.

I remember when I still hadn't told them that I was an atheist, and I discovered the Amazing Atheist and became very liberal. I got a GLSEN bracelet from the school GSA, and it said GLSEN on it (that stands for 'Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network'), and I wanted to find out if my parents were homophobic because of their religion or not. So I went downstairs and asked them, "Do you guys know what this stands for? I know the first three words are gay, lesbian, and straight, but-"

Dad- "Don't say that word!" (they used to think that lesbian was a dirty word)
Mom- "Are you trying to tell us something?"

LOL. They thought I was telling them I was homosexual. I almost said, "Yes, I'm an atheist", but I restrained myself. ;)

Anyway, my dad said, "You know the Catholic Church is against it, right?"

"Like I give a shit."
Well, that's what I wanted to say. ;)

I actually said that I knew that, and went upstairs, because shit was getting out of hand.

Another time, in the very first few weeks after I became an atheist, when I didn't take the "holy" water at church, my mom lost it. She said it was like going into a temple and spitting on the floor.

It's better now, though. My dad has come along a lot. I don't think my mom ever will (she likes Donald Trump O_O) but she doesn't bitch anymore like that. My dad actually speaks favorably about Bernie Sanders, and we watched CNN interview Trump together for kicks. He even watches Bill Maher with me. He does have some bizarre ideas, but they're not so relevant, and he doesn't go out of his way to argue about them.

What about you?

she likes Donald Trump O_O
I thought Isaac Newton proved this to be a physical impossibility and his theory was further reinforced by modern developments in quantum physics?
You know the Catholic Church is against it, right?
Assuming your parents are Catholics, do they support all the things the church says? (like are they homophobic and opposed to protection use during sex kind of thing) Sorry for being nosy, I am very curious...
What about you?
Probably the most interesting thing that happened is that recently, a classmate of mine who I had worked on a project with warned me that the rapture was coming. I tried to debate her but we weren't getting anywhere, so I just gave up and told her I don't want to talk about this anymore. I can post some of the things she said if you are curious.

LOL.

They've never said anything about birth control.

What did you expect? Consistency? In religious people? ;) :D

Hahahahaha, wow.

Yeah, I'm curious!

So I blocked her number after the "debate" and unfortunately it seems that even if I unblock her, the messages are permanently gone.
However, I do remember some of the most wonderful moments with her (but they won't be exact, of course)
Cirion: "You continue to claim that you've learned something that I have not from your god, and you haven't specified what exactly it was yet. Would you kindly do so?"
Peer: "I have learned that with god, all things are possible. If you pray God will give you anything you want."
Cirion: "As a child, I believed in god and did not receive anything I prayed for unless a family member was present or I willed myself to acquire it. Not to mention, there are many, many starving people out in the world who pray, but god does not sate their hunger."
Peer: "Those who do not receive what they requested did not have enough fate in god."
Cirion: *thinks about presenting statistics which show that the most religious people are the poorest* "I no longer would like to talk to you about this if you plan ok vilifying those who have done nothing wrong in this regard."

I was also linked to a video which allegedly proved that god exists and one that proved the rapture is coming. Both of which were plagued with the false cause logical fallacy (https://yourlogicalfallacyis.com/false-cause).
