Does makeup make women (or men) look better?

Post by Lightningman_42 »

So I saw this video on YouTube recently and I agree with most of what Richard said:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TM4mHp3__5o

Personally I find women to be way more attractive without makeup. It seems very bizarre to me that so many people believe that putting paint on their faces is either a necessity to be attractive, or even makes them look better in general. I'd like to hear some differing perspectives on whether or not makeup generally makes women (or even men) more attractive. If you're attracted to women, what do you think? Hate makeup? Like it? If you're attracted to men, what would you think of them wearing makeup?

I would like to mention also that the most important thing to think about with regards to makeup is whether or not it's cruelty-free. As Richard mentioned in the video, many cosmetics companies test on animals, but there are also companies that don't.

A little makeup can help in some ways, but there is certainly such a thing as too much. The example he gave at the end shows this perfectly. That girl was much prettier before she turned herself into a badly painted plastic doll.
Same goes for men, but they're less inclined to overdo it.

I see wearing make-up as an art.
Some people are good at it some people are bad at it but it's an art worth a thousand words, or more..

I don't put on make up because I like my face but I wont deny that make up would defiantly enhance my facial features..
See I don't wear make-up because it makes me too pretty

I think hate is a really strong word and he kinda contradicted himself because how are you going to know who's face is cruelty free or not ?
There are plenty of non-vegetarians that buy cruelty free make up exclusively.
He's just trying to get hits on youtube by starting up controversial topics trying to tie in the animal testing issuone on make-up as a defense to why he hates make up but really he doesn't hate make-up he just hate's that fact he's not getting as many views as he'd like.

How did Richard contradict himself? The possible cruelty that went into makeup was not his only objection to it. Why do you think that he only cares about getting hits on YouTube and getting lots of views on his videos? How have you determined this to be true? Maybe it is; maybe it isn't. Anyways plenty of guys really do dislike makeup so it's at least possible that he made the video for reasons other than just "creating controversy and getting views."

I remeber learning something about this, I don't know whether makeup makes someone look better or not, but I do now that it makes someone look more feminine. The Reason for this is that women tend to have lighter skin than men (When they are compared to a male of the same race of course.) makeup creates a contrast between their lighter skinne and the darker makeup, which highlights their feminine features. Well that's my post, someone tell me if I'm wrong.

He said that if the make-up was cruelty free then he didn't mind if a woman wore that make-up...
How would one know?
Why do I think he only cares about getting views on youtube, hmmm lets ponder on this one for a moment.
What good is this video doing for the vegan movement ?
What good does saying "Plenty of guys really dislike makeup"
The only animals that care who puts on make or not are humans and seeing as Richard didn't go into the actual details of the "fashion and beauty" industry.. He only states matters of his opinion not fact. Great your opinion is you don't like women to ware make-up but why; because a little bunny gets hurt? Why not tell people that it's more than just bunnies that make-up gets tested on!!!
Honestly he probably made some girls feel bad about them selves and he's trying to light a fire for men to stand against
"I'm a vegetarian man and I hate woman who wear make up, be like me!"

Hey at least he has you talking about women's looks that's really helpful for the movement.

Makeup make both men and women. It provides extra beauty and provides a feeling of confidence. Women without make up is nothing as it is most suitably used for women as compared to men in the society. During marriage women without make up is considered as nothing. It is very much important for her to get it from professional salon or beauty parlour.

It is completely subjective, as beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I can see how make up increases the beauty of a woman in some or most cases, but that is just my taste. Some men like it a lot, others actually prefer the natural appearance of the bae. Also, I'm against testing on animals in order to create cosmetics provided that it somehow makes them suffer(which is probably most cases).

It's very much dependent on the person. But often, I think whatever I'm used to seeing them with is what will fit people best. A change from make-up to no make-up and vice-versa can be a little strange. (at least at first.) There's definitely a limit to how much make-up you can have. And unless someone has an incredible amount of acne, I don't think make-up is a must. but sometimes, it can make both guys and girls looks pretty cute.
