Guns and Me -- what about you?

Post by The6thMessenger »

I've always been tantalized by guns, they're beautiful beasts, like a dog lover to dogs, or cat lovers to dogs, i love guns.

But i could care less about shooting down people, or animals, damn i just want to shoot a gun, is that wierd? Personally i think i would be fine (mentally) if i were to kill someone (not murder, because it's unlawful) like "Meh" as long as that one deserves it, but maybe i don't have a the guts, it just hasn't happened to me, nor i had been in hunting. I just fired a 9mm Parabellum off a tangfolio -- i don't know model is at a range, and that's it.

Now my dream gun would be a full-auto .338 Lapua Magnum, with at least 30-round clips:

Plus a underbarrel 10-gauge sawn-off pump action shot-gun (http://www.browning.com/products/catalo ... 2&tid=2121), with the barrel sawn off to reach the same extent as the underbarrel tubular magazine, of course the stock and grip is removed so it can be put under the picatinny rail accessory, plus a special feature that gives me two triggers in the same trigger handle so all i have to do is to pump the gun each shot, and have my trigger hand fire both the main .338 LM module, and then the under-barrel shotgun module.

But, so far i guess the closest one i would want is:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightweig ... achine_Gun, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNB7khjOSXc

damn it's even belt feed for prolonged fight, and it says that i can be converted to fire to .338 Lapua Mag from the .338 Norma Mag.

But then, if i were to really pick out of everything: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8RbL4PwTDsQ and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arMJQDkNjuo, a damn hand-held minigun. Now obviously the 7.62x51mm NATO Round has a lot of kick, so i guess to compensate is to change to 7.62x39mm Soviet which is the same ammo as the AK-47 and AKM, and is weaker than the 7.62mm NATO round despite having the same bore diameter. Another problem is the power source, and the ammunition, but i guess it's not for prolonged combat. With 3000 rounds per minute, that is 50 rounds each seconds, with http://www.luckygunner.com/rifle/7.62x39mm-ammo ; that is 132$ for 12 seconds. At least it's not 400,000 $ dollars, but still that's one heck of a dump.

Guns do make impulsive killing very easy. And it has contributed to much higher violence in countries where its more accessible. America seems to have an extraordinary amount of guns (88/100 people) and related gun violence. Personally no one that I have ever met has possession of a gun (in India). http://www.theguardian.com/news/datablo ... world-list

Sagan had said something on similar lines ages ago : "Handguns are available for self protection in Seattle, but not in nearby Vancouver, Canada; handgun killings are five times more common and the handgun suicide rate is ten times greater in Seattle. Guns make impulsive killing easy." --The Demon-Haunted World p.423

I'm not familiar with such things as a hobby though.

I can see your sentiment, as I have the same with medieval weapons. Spears, swords, bows, etc. are just awesome to me. Luckily, people like me can play LARP (roleplay using foam weapons) to somewhat experience using these weapons without harming anybody.

I don't though, it's hella expensive.

There's a definite allure to guns and weapons, I have owned swords but would never want to come near a gun as I think they are deplorable. Of course swords are too. Is it the society we grow up in? What if kids are not exposed to weapons/guns on tv or anything like that? Would there still be an unhealthy fascination with them?

Damn, I was gonna link an amusing Jon Oliver video on Australian gun control vs American but it's now unavailable in my country.
