Gay parades?

Post by knot »

So these are banned in many countries, and as far as I can tell, primarily for religious/emotional/stupid reasons.
I wondered if there are any actual reasons they should be banned. It seems like these sorts of things can become quite pornographic, and that might be a reason they shouldn't be allowed in the public domain since kids seem to be impacted negatively by exposure to porn. The argument would be the same for straight parades, beastiality parades, etc..

We have gay parades here in the Netherlands, and I've never heard of any problems with them. I figure it's just homophobia that is causing the bans.

This originally repeated what was below. I can't find out how to delete it, so now it's this beauty.

Would you mind referring me to the study/studies which found this?

I personally just dislike gay parades. I find that all they do is waste resources and time with the ultimate result of having LGBT stereotypes reinforced.

First off I should mention this anti-gay-parade video was what got me thinking about this
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EG6QBdh02fk
It felt like an unconvincing video to me, since the tl;dr of his argument against gay parades seems to be "I don't like them".
So I wanted to see if there was an actual argument to be made. The potentially harmful effects of highly sexualized/pornographic acts in public could be a real concern

I imagine there are many gays who think that too, though I dunno what the ratio of "colorful" gay person to "normal" gay person is :D

Here's an example

Porn addiction is real, and harmful. Like other forms of addiction, it turns into a dopamine dependency where you become increasingly numb to the stimulus, so you need more and more of it to get high.
This graph shows this "numbness"

Short-term boosts in dopamine also decrease self-control. That could explain why porn exposure seems to increase the likelyhood of rapes

All in all, porn basically fucks with the brain (in the bad way), which is why I try to avoid it^^

I never understood these parades. What does being gay have to do with outlandish clothes and behavior?
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:

Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

We have gay parades in India where homosexuality is criminalised. It's important for activism and attempting to overturn those archaic laws. There isn't any nudity or anything of the sort, I guess that's a separate issue rather than whether gay parades are acceptable.
