Hey everybody,
since about one year I've been thinking about everything that's going on on earth, meaning politics, capitalism, human behaviour etc. and i've come to the conclusion (and I know that's going to sound harsh to a lot of people) that everyone who has truly thought about those issues, cannot be happy on this planet. And let me clarify something: that doesn't mean you can't live a happy or fulfilled life on this planet, I am just saying that if you were to think about this EVERY SINGLE DAY, you would probably commit suicide - because let's just face it: too many people are just despicable. Yeah sure, there are some individuals who are extremely nice and understand which values really matter but the vast majority of us as a species has completely lost its mind (at least that's what it seems to me).
In my opinion, the majority of people on this earth doesn't even deserve to be living here. They just don't. I mean, everyone who supports a system, which is based on the exploitation of others (and that's just what capitalism is all about - or at least in practice) and hasn't thought about what's really important in life just shouldn't pollute the environment anymore with their existence.
When I'm talking with people about moral issues or rather our current system, they always come up with the argument that capitalism means freedom. But since when is it okay to some people to earn tons of money on behalf of others just because they had the luck to be born in a rich family or they just had the finger on the pulse?
And all the people who seem to know what's going on this world - why don't they accumulate and start a revolution or at least just somehow break out of the system? Okay, I have to admit, it's of course not that easy, but it would surely be possible, considering I'm 100% not the only one, who thinks that this world is heading in a very bad direction.
I don't know, I'm just really depressed at the moment - especially because scientists just found pigs and chickens in china with bacteria that possesses the MCR-1 gene that is resistent to ALL stems of antibiotics that are currently available... I'm not even mad because of the events that happened in Paris, I mean, come on, didn't we see that coming? Sorry for my harsh cynicism, it's obvious that those bombings and shootings are horrible, but I'm so sick of people who suddenly realize how bad the world or rather some (most) of its people are just because one specific tragedy just happened - guess what? thousands of people die every day and no one gives a f***.
Congratulations that you've come so far (or you skipped most of my gibberish) - so, my question is: how do you deal with those problems? Do you think that there's still some hope that humanity changes? Or do you just completely avoid to think about certain things? Or did you just stop caring about other people and rather just concentrate on your life in general?

I'm more of an anarcho socialist than anything else. It's a bit more complicated than that, but that's my basic philosophy.

Socialism for me. And I have thought extensively about what you were talking about. As for the questions at the end, I do think humanity can change, whether or not that happens I can't say. I don't try to avoid thinking about different things, considering that thinking is my favorite pastime. Sometimes I don't think about other people and just focus on my life, but it isn't a common occurrence. Welcome to the forum by the way.

I don't know. I sort of have an opposite view of things. The way I see it, the world is only getting better and better. With our advances in technology and biology, I honestly feel like we are less than a century away from solving pretty much any problem you could think of from cancer to aging to hunger. I don't see any reason why that needed to be true. It's a wonderful gift that those possibilities can realistically be hoped for. I'm probably more optimistic than most people, but I find it hard to believe I could be wrong given the rate of progress we have experienced in the past century compared to those before. What the problems currently going on in the world do for me is put my situation in perspective and keeps me from feeling too down when compared to what I know to be possible. Im sure the way you feel about it can't really be easily controlled, but I think it's probably best to make a decision not to add to the problem of suffering in any way, and that definitely includes your own suffering. Don't worry, be happy.
As far as the economic system goes, I would vote for either a very heavy socialistic and regulated capitalism, or a libertarian socialism like noam chomsky talks about. The workers for the company being the equal shareholders within that company seems so much more logical and fair than funneling all those gains to the person at the top.

Democratic socialism works pretty well for the most part. The only issue is stopping people from exploiting the system
