Hello everyone,

My name is Dumitru, i am 30 years old and married.
My wife and i are really happy because in march next year we will have a baby daughter. :)

I am new around here, my main interest here is to discuss with religious and atheist people alike.
I am from Romania, i am a former orthodox christian and i chose to live as a taoist, by way, not the religion. Since i have not seen this in the category of religion in the forum, i want to express it for the community from my experience. I would describe the Tao ☯ as a way of knowledge, balanced, a path which leads to inner peace, knowing and understanding your world, others, yourself and to maintain the equilibrium you need in order to be happy, healthy and relaxed. Understanding yourself makes it more easier to understand others. The benefits from this is that you are able to accept humans as a whole with the good and the bad, thus making you another person, a better person - one who does not judge people anymore but accept it for what it is. I respect nature, therefore i think that those who do not, harm the planet and destroy the world. Conclude from this that i practice meditation from the year of 2002 and was the first thing that freed me from the dogmatic poison of my former religion.

More.. I am also a Deist. (Not Theist). I believe in the existence of a Creator, on the evidence of science, reason and nature only, with rejection of dogma, the supernatural revelations and/or religions.

I am also a martial artist with many hobbies and have huge interests in art, theology, astronomy and science.

I love music and my favorite genres are; Ambient, Chillout,-ambiental house, (remixes, experimental projects), Soft-Trance, irish folk, chinese, old orthodox syrian chants, rock, drum’n base, electro swing mixes, bboy mixes, beatbox, GOA, 80,90'(because is the music i grew up with and love).

Thats all for me now..if you have any questions feel free to ask.

I wish you well. :)

Welcome to the forum, Dumitru. Congratulations on having a baby!

Nice to have a Taoist on the forum because I don't know if we have any others. Hope to learn more about Tao values from you. Nice to hear about your hobbies. Glad that you like astronomy. I do to (I used to be a physics-major in college but switched and graduated in Earth Sciences).

Thank you so much. Yes i would have picked taoism in the religion section but it was not in the list, this is the reason i wanted to talk a little about it...
i almost wanted to point in buddhism since is the most similar in philosophy, but it would not be fair.

I am glad also to be here among you people, i think i have a lot to learn and exchange, i look forward to discuss.

Here in my country there are not so many who have interest in science. Since the population is 70 % orthodox along side other religions, they choose to worship bones and remains of ”saints”, crawl on their knees and elbows and they also choose not to think. So its really bad with this wide ignorance.
So when i am put to choose who to talk with i really preffer atheists, buddhists, or anything else but dogmatic religious people.

An intelligent conversation is better than not at all.

Astronomy is so beautiful and real.. we often go out at nights when we have clear skies and enjoy our telescopes with some good music and cold drinks. Especially at mountains view.

What made you change the domain from Physics to earth sciences ?

Welcome Dumitru!

Taoist is now an option, so you can change that if you want to.

Glad you've joined us, I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
