You are familiar with consequentialism, right? You can't just say X is wrong, or X is right, regardless of the consequences.RedAppleGP wrote:I'm not referring to voluntary euthanasia

You have to look at the cost and benefit.

“The worst illiterate is the political illiterate, he doesn’t hear, doesn’t speak, nor participates in the political events. He doesn’t know the cost of life, the price of the bean, of the fish, of the flour, of the rent, of the shoes and of the medicine, all depends on political decisions. The political illiterate is so stupid that he is proud and swells his chest saying that he hates politics. The imbecile doesn’t know that, from his political ignorance is born the prostitute, the abandoned child, and the worst thieves of all, the bad politician, corrupted and flunky of the national and multinational companies.”
― Bertolt Brecht
So don't be that person.
I doubt queer marriage equality would have been possible if it were a republican government at the helm. In India we have a situation at present with homosexuality being criminalized, let alone marriage equality and the right wing Hindu nationalist government isn't even entertaining discussing a bill about decriminalizing homosexuality in parliament. Same goes for several other decisions. It's easy for a person who is privileged to not have to worry about problems that they would not have to face and so not be bothered about furthering policies that could change that via the political process ( the simple act of voting).

I totally forgot to respond to this.
I don't think you got what I was saying. The only type of politics I don't care about are presidential politics, and it ends there. I still care about stuff like abortion, the economy, etc.. Plus, I don't recall saying that I hate politics. If I did, I was being hyperbolic.

Re: Is It Bad That I Don't Find Interest In Politics?
Just a side note. I'm not sure if I said this or not, but another reason why I don't bother with politics is because, 90% of the time, I'd have no idea what I'm talking about. I have 0 political knowledge, so I think it's better just to let the people who know what they'rem talking about do the debating and sit on the neutral bench, rather than getting in the game and making myself look like a fucking momo. This is probably just on the internet, but the people who say which politician they're voting for and why, usually have no idea what they are talking about. Maybe since the policies sounds nice to them, and they never had to owe a dime on April 15th. Why bother asking a professional, huh? Bottom line, they have no idea what they're talking about and make themselves look stupid, and I just don't wanna end up like them. I should just stick to what I'm good at. I would try learning about politics, but those just don't interest me enough. Well, that's just a long story short.
