I assume you mean "what's the reason PEOPLE THINK god exists" ?
Honestly it's hard for me to understand how people with access to the internet can still believe in god to this day, but I can understand why people believed in gods before we had the scientific revolution.

If so, I think it's mainly the brainwashing of people when they're really young, combined with the comfort it brings to some people.knot wrote:I assume you mean "what's the reason PEOPLE THINK god exists" ?

What is the point of existence itself ? There are many things that can go beyond our own understanding.machackerx86 wrote:what is the reason for god's existence . I just don't get it
”All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force..We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter.” ~ Max Planck - Quantum Theory and Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918.

Well if your talking about any god/goddess then mythology is a good example of why people originally create images of gods/goddesses. It was to give people an understanding of how things work. Most people hate not knowing why things happen and so someone or a group came up with the idea of gods/goddesses; That can change the seasons, bring love, cause storms, ect. But, if you are talking about the Christian/Catholic god then I am betting that god is used to brain wash people for political reasons or to control the masses.

As a non-religious person myself, I'd like to play the devil's advocate for a moment. (pun intended)
I could go way more in-depth on the topic, but to keep it brief. If you are the type that likes to honestly debate on a forum, I'm willing to bet you have strong opinions regarding something. But I also reason that at some point in your life, you had that moment of "Damn! I'm wrong about X" and changed your opinion. It really hits the ego to admit you are wrong, especially if you are told by your entire family, house of worship, friends, what to believe. Religion is like a drug. Like crack, it makes you feel good. (Seriously tho, don't smoke crack. Just an analogy) But if all your family and friends were crack-heads, it would be easier just to continue on, than break away from what has been a major part of your life for so long.
The point of God's existence is it makes people feel good.

In past times when humans couldn't find logical explanations to natural phenomenons, they'd invent an entity to which to atribute said phenomenon. I can't explain how lightning bolts work, therefore Zeus.
Nowadays however, Gods are just one of the many ways to control a certain demographic and gain political power. Or so i believe.
I really doubt the past Popes really believed in the Bible, but they benefited from it regardless.
As for normal people, it makes them feel safe. They fear death... Or they just have been victims of indoctrination from a very young age, which i consider child abuse.
