I'm not taking your mother's side, but I enjoy playing the devil's advocate sometimes. I had the exact same issue with my mother and a sibling of mine. Took years, but eventually we all just accepted each others beliefs. I only suggest because it is family, and not a forum designed for debates, be gentle with them.
