Anybody working out at night?

Post by Eqeuls »

;) Hello ,

So I've been excercising regulary for the past 2 - 3 months. Which means I am working out with a bodyweight oriented group in a big city nearby - for about 1h to 1h 30 at saturdays. This group is meeting every week at Mo, We, Sa for a workout session. The "head trainer" there is a certified personal trainer and is very experienced with all sorts of bodyweight related excercises. I can definitely see some small improvements regarding my strenght, posture and my balance.

Now here is the tricky part, I'm only able to join this group on saturdays, due to the time my job ends during the week and the distance I've got to drive to get there in time. I am simply not able to make it in time.

This is why I thought about working out on monday and wednesday evenings for myself. In about a 10 minutes run I could reach a forest nearby with a built in fitness parcour. They are called "vita parcours" here. But I am very anxious about meeting people there or on the way there. Not that very many people would be around during that time in the forest - around 20.00 - but I feel like I'd disturb or scare off other people, like elders or females ect. And I've got to admit, even for myself, it sounds a bit strange to excecise in the woods when I gets dark outside, but I simply can't find a better fitting time during my day to do this.

So.. Is it strange to workout during dusk?
Is it weird to exercise in the forest?
Am I overthinking the thing with scaring people off?

So basically, is anybody working out outdoors in the evening during dusk or night and has similar experiences or thoughts about this?

Btw, i'm not a huge fan of gyms, they're always very crowded. And I don't like to workout at home, I feel like I've got to tone it down for my neighbors and can't give it 100%

P.S I'm living in small village in a more or less rural area.

Working out in a forest isn't so strange. I think people will easily see that you're working out, they might think it odd, but I don't think it would scare them.

BUT you shouldn't be worried about giving it "100%" when it comes to strength training: that's a good way to get hurt. If you can just barely manage a weight, don't use it. You can get a perfectly good workout being pretty quiet. Install a pull-up bar, do push ups and squats for strength training. Use a weight you can manage easily for curls and such. Only cardio is particularly loud. And for cardio, you can power walk outside (which nobody will even think odd).

Hey brimstoneSalad, thank you.

I think i'll give it a shot tomorrow and see how it is going.

The pull up bar thing sounds pretty good, i'm going to search for a door frame one and see if that will work out for me. Thank you.

I don't work with weight (for now) I'm working with bodyweight, so I guess i'm pretty save in that regard - as of giving 100%, I just don't feel good after the workout if I feel like i've "half-assed" it, so giving 100% is kinda necessary in regards of my feeling.
