And he could spend his time installing lightning rods everywhere too, which would be about as effective against the scourge of lightning attacks. ;)

Remember, terrorism isn't a major issue, particularly terrorists from the west going off and joining ISIS.

The issue is the oppression Muslims face from the Islamic state -- every day oppression for every day law abiding Muslims, particularly women. Lack of birth control and access to safe abortions, poor legal protection in marriage, divorce, and with custody and property rights, poor education.

He can say he is. Unless we use Jeb Bush logic.
EquALLity wrote: How can you do any kind of progressive activism in Saudi Arabia without being murdered?
He can, he just can't push too hard.
EquALLity wrote: The part about him lying is speculation.
I don't think he's lying, I just don't think his enthusiasm for speaking against Islam and spending his life as an activist will last two months once he's free of it.
He may post a couple blogs nobody ever reads, in a sea of blogs from people who escaped the middle east.

EquALLity wrote: I think we should give him the benefit of the doubt.
When you're in discussion with somebody, sure. In debate, that's a good thing to do. When you're talking about spending resources on somebody, no.

We should not give, for example, a homeless person the benefit of the doubt in assuming he or she will NOT spend that money on drugs or alcohol. Because 99.9% of the time he or she will, and you're just wasting your money and doing harm.

EquALLity wrote: Why would being in Saudi Arabia make him more motivated? He can't do anything there.
Sure he can. There are many reformers and moderate Muslims there who are inspiring others to be more tolerant. All he has to do is be a reasonable person, and convince a few people around him to be more reasonable very gently.

I'd just like to add that this may be a scam. People on the Internet pretend to be all sorts of things. There have been cases of people from the middle east making up all sorts of horrible situations in order to get into a western country, while in reality they were doing relatively good and did not need to migrate at all.

Tell him to go to Portugal. They have opened their doors for asylum seekers yet for some reason no one seems to want to go there.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.
