No, they need to go to trade school and get a reliable job like roofing, plumbing, electrician, repairman, etc.
Most people should be going to trade schools, not universities.

That said, this should only disincentivize high performing students to take these AP classes if they're close to the border between the top 10% and the bottom 90%.
Most students in AP classes are probably comfortably in the top 5% anyway, and don't have to worry about this problem.
Poor performing students would be discouraged from taking these classes just a gambit to increase their GPAs.

If anything, this will assure that the students in the AP classes are all top performing students, and not lower performing students who can't risk getting a few Bs or Cs.

Couldn't agree more, even for those in the higher IQ realm who aren't sure of what they want to do in life. Learn to make some money at a respectable craft, avoid student loan debt, and go from there.

For those like EquALLity though, college is likely to be a positive, and despite arguing against her position, I get it. Even though now it may negatively affect her GPA, most people in the hiring position of companies actually do understand the difference, and one you reach that point it will be seen as a positive, much more so than a slightly lower GPA will be seen as a negative.

Going to a prestigious school will give you opportunities to advance quicker than a less prestigious school, but if you are concerned about making a difference in the world, and willing to put in the work, Harvard or Nebraska State U will both give you a degree that will allow you to do what you feel is a good career.
Alcohol may have been a factor.

Taxation is theft.
