We're going to read Animal Farm in English class (which I'm excited about), and tonight we're supposed to pick a 'spirit animal' and journal about it. I was pretty lost at first, so I asked some people, and I got:
1) Angel fish (...no idea why)
2) Bald eagle (because I know a lot about politics and what's best for the country apparently)
3) Dove (because I'm 'chill' [amusing] and see things with a higher level of understanding
)I actually really like dove, because doves have this connotation of peace and being a messenger. Doves were used to refer to people against the War in Vietnam, and they generally refer to pacifists. I really value peace and civility, so I think that would apply to me. Then, there's the Noah's Arc story in the Bible in which the dove brings an olive leaf to the arc. This symbolizes that the flood is over and life is back, and in this way the dove is a messenger of hope and a new beginning. I like to see myself as a messenger for things that I care about, like the future of the world, people today, and the animals. I also believe we should be hopeful and idealistic, albeit politics is extremely disappointing most of the time. But I believe there's hope, and I want to spread it.
So, I'm going with that at the moment.
