I used to have respect for Gordon Ramsay, I used to go to his restaurants when I wasn't vegan. Used to. Apparently he tricked vegetarians into eating meat.
A sick joke for sure. Ironic because in 2012 he went on a vegetarian diet in order to become healthy enough to run a marathon.

Never liked the guy. I'm surprised that he is not worried about the legal repercussions of admitting something like this.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

Re: Gordon Ramsay on Vegans/vegetarians
This is why I don't trust many chefs. They don't often genuinely respect others' choices, and have a deep contempt for anybody who doesn't eat meat.
Kosher chefs I do more, and even Muslims, because they can understand the concept of not eating something, and put themselves in your shoes (e.g. what if somebody fed them pork, the same way I don't want to eat any animal products).
There was an episode of Psych a few years ago where a parody of Ramsay (I think) was murdered, and the main character was wondering if they should even bother to catch his killer since he was obviously such a bad person.
At least most people seem to recognize that's a pretty shitty thing to do.

It's indeed very disrespectful.
I wonder whether you all actually can enjoy watching non-vegan cooking shows in general. I sometimes try (if there is nothing else on the television), but I can't stand certain actions being performed with meat and the talk that comes with it. Last time I watched they were slicing off the feet and the head of a whole chicken.

No, I can't stand to watch them. Not because I'm possibly indirectly contributing to industrial farming, but because I can't stand to see dismembered animal body parts on TV.Volenta wrote: I wonder whether you all actually can enjoy watching non-vegan cooking shows in general. Re: Gordon Ramsay on Vegans/vegetarians
It seems like many chefs actually hate having veg*ns in their restaurant. Many restaurants don't have any veg*n meals on their menu, so they hate preparing something special for veg*ns. Good chefs should easily be able to do it, but they can experience it as a pain in the ass. That's probably why I generally hate ordering something in a non-vegan business (although I've also found some that have no trouble with it, probably due to easy modification of the recipe).

Conversing with my old dietitian and ex-cheff I was told that some places hire people with the propose of dealing with vegan/vegetarians.
vegan: to exclude—as far as is practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for any purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment.

This could be really great for those who want to pursue a culinary career but don't want to cook/clean meat or any animal products for that matter.bobo0100 wrote:Conversing with my old dietitian and ex-cheff I was told that some places hire people with the propose of dealing with vegan/vegetarians.
