Any use of animals for profit is unethical. You are using them beyond their will to gain a profit. They don't have control of their lives, food, movement, and energy output.

OK, I think I understand you. You are asking if it would be ok to "own" a well treated horse (not ridden) who lives on a square mile of land.

Yes, that sounds about right given the following assumptions.

The horse is not alone all day.
The horse is not being butt fucked by his owner.
The horse is given ample food and medical attention.
