Does being offended mean anything

Post by Campbell305 »

Just something to think about. In my view being offended only really means something if someone said something with the intent to offend e.g a Christian telling a gay person they're going to hell. Let me know what you think.

I always found it troubling when people claimed to be offended just because someone expressed his or her opinion about a particular subject. Then you're just making a distraction to make an objection without having anything useful to say on the matter in question yourself.

I also think it's only meaningful to say you're offended when someone is intentionally and quite explicitly diminishing/mocking you.

Yeah. I hate when people are offended because of a group you're a part of. Like if I tell someone I'm an atheist and they're offended by that its really aggravating.
