Yeah I wasn't claiming this is an argument against the truth of any religion, just one of the many reasons I dislike religion in general. Also I just wanted to post something that might rustle some jimmies and provoke conversation.

I observe they derive some of their arrogance from the psychological high they get from feeling that they belong to an elevated social group of the highest order. They (Christians) may feel they are participants in the social fraternity/sorority having a divine leader who has chosen them for special consideration.

Practically every social group has a hierarchy where those on the top feel most privilege. The young feel superior to the old, the rich feel superior to the poor, one ethnicity feel superior to another, the individual driving a 2014 model car feel more superior to someone driving a 2013 model, and so on. The top strata often have arrogance to accompany their position of privilege. Any number of factors can affect their behavior making them more arrogant than they would have been if not in a religious environment: the doctrine they learn, their own proclivities, self-esteem, and normal cognitive thinking abilities.

It appears to me that in a world where life have little guarantees and the only constant is change itself, having a story that a wizard in the sky has chosen them for special care is a powerful weapon to hold over other people's head. It is intoxicating. It does not matter if they really believe it. Perhaps the fact that they can make you believe they believe what they allege to believe is good enough.

That leads to another thought. Unhappy people do unhappy things. Take for example a husband and wife who are having marital problems. They can pretend that things are perfect but soon there will be cracks forming in the veneer. One or both parties will become, moody, mean, and standoffish. Religious adherents are similar. In their psychic, they recognize their beliefs are inconsistent with logic. Nevertheless, they skip along repressing and pretending life is grand. They are miserable but are ensnared within the web of contradictions and silliness. Then they meet the atheist who is as happy as a tick on a dog’s buttocks and the Christian snaps! That is when they get arrogant and nasty.

Disclaimer: This is not indicative of all Christians. Just a common pattern I see in those I meet.

TheVeganAtheist wrote:ive spoken about this very topic in some of my videos. The theist believes they are the entire point of creation, and that everyone and everything (animals included) are here for our utility. I cringe anytime I hear a theist claim that atheists are arrogant to disbelieve in a god.
How're you any different? How's Jebus any different as well? He cannot use rational and constructive criticism on the post I made a short while ago:

http://theveganatheist.com/forum/viewto ... 6243#p6243

All he did was hurl insults, derail the thread, and make illogical statement(s) that has nothing to do with the post. He's the one who's being arrogant, not me. Self-righteous fucktard he is.

Including Atheist who is not really an Atheist to begin with. Just like ISIS who try to use Quran to justify violence whereas they were never a Muslim to begin with. Atheist is no different. A taste of your own medicine.
