There are many social injustices that result in inequity in wealth distribution, so saying that it's only/more morally acceptable for the wealthy could be interpreted as classist.

I said reasonably wealthy and intelligent because I assumed you and most other people on this forum are so. I do not think that a poor person in a western country should refrain from having children, but if you're a person in Syria, under the rule of ISIS, I'd say getting a child is probably not the best decision.

Perhaps. Is pair bonding, that is, being in love, detestable? There is no objective morality as far as we know. Only subjective human morality. In some cases having babies (for a baby bonus perhaps) is detestable, but in other cases it's not. Were it not for childbirth, we would not be here having this discussion.
Neither would we have Charles Darwin, Richard Dawkins, Peter Singer. Or Hitler.
