It's not that difficult to be strong on a vegan diet. You just can not eat mostly fruit (or if you do, it becomes much harder). Beans and green veggies have large amounts of protein in them, fruit and rice do not have much at all.

My hobby is Blacksmithing and it is labor intensive. Yet, I am able to do it for hours. So it is very well possible for vegans to be able to work at difficult jobs. You just have to find the right diet and exercise for your job's demands.
