You're against democracy and marijuana? Why?
I am against democracy, especially democracies as we have them now, as the end form of government.
Democracy sucks at dealing with long-term, complicated, abstract problems. The best example here is climate change. To prevent it, massive changes should already have been made. However, because people don't care much about what happens in what is perceived to be the distant future, democracy doesn't do much. Granted, countries like China are not making those changes either, but there is clearly a problem here.
There's also the problem of corruption, which might not be inherent to democracy, but is messing it up either way. I think democracy is way better than current alternatives, but we should be actively searching for ways to either improve on democracy or another government form entirely. The main thing we should be looking at here, in my opinion, is how we can better involve science in government. I have thought of a sort of pseudo-democracy where scientist votes have higher weight (e.g. scientist votes count twice as much). Not sure if that would be better, but those are the sort of things I think we need to explore.
As to marijuana, I do not think it should be illegal, but just like alcohol, meat, dairy and eggs, I want to see the demand for it drop heavily. I am not convinced it is safe, in any case when smoked, and heavily dislike anything that messes with your brain functions.
