In the US progressives are usually liberals, which are left wing. On both ends, they act less like liberals and more like conservatives. Banning books, assaulting people who disagree with them, crying about being oppressed, claiming the other side is immoral and dangerous, and trying to get the law to restrict peoples rights in order to grant extra rights to others.

They are two sides of the same crazy coin.

It baffles me that you think political correctness is such a major issue, death.
We have a political system in America in which democracy has essentially been destroyed on the federal level, and you're concerned that some people who are probably just telling you not to be a dick are making this country fail...

Seriously, how is political correctness destroying the country (and the world in general)?
The only people who I can imagine thinking that are people like Donald Trump, who are confused why calling the majority of illegal Mexican immigrants rapists is considered wrong.

I agree that political correctness is sometimes bad, but to say that it is destroying the country makes me think you perceive it to be negatively influencing policy, which from my experience often means very crazy things...

I've never gotten the impression of authoritarianism from the term 'progressive', though.

Progressivism isn't SUPPOSED to be authoritarian, but then again, neither was Socialism, but Hitler fucked THAT up for the rest of us.

For instance, Progressivism is SUPPOSED to be a: "political movement that addresses ideas, impulses, and issues stemming from modernization of American society. Emerging at the end of the nineteenth century, it established much of the tone of American politics throughout the first half of the century." It's supposed to push America further into the future.

But most progressives I have seen are using the same racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-first-amendment rhetoric as the book banners of the 1900's or the anti-civil rights proponents of the 1950's that didn't want blacks and whites to intermingle and marry. A white person who wears something or acts a certain way that is stereotypically considered black is attacked nowadays, because modern progressives use the same tactics as white nationalists from the 1950's when it comes to fighting cultural homogeneity.

It's apparently not progressive nowadays to NOT focus on someone's race or gender, instead of simply viewing people as people. And instead of looking forward to better mankind, many progressives would rather look back on events perpetrated decades, or even centuries ago, and attack who they think is too privileged, namely white men. Then again, these tactics are not progressive either, as anti-Semitics used the same "too privileged to be victims" card when they attack the Jews.

Wanting the world to blend into a single "race" of people and for all cultures to be able to be intertwined and shared with anyone who wants to partake is considered racist, so it is quite common to tell people to stay within their racial boundaries. To "stay in their lane," as if acting like a white supremacist is progressive.

This ISN'T what progressivism, what Liberalism, is supposed to be. I subscribe to the ideals of Progressive Liberalism with some Libertarian leanings. And it sickens me to see these book burning, free-speech retracting, idiot cultural marxists pretend to be progressives when they are setting us all back to the 1950's and inciting race wars and gender-hatred.

If we are really progressive, it's about time we actually move forward.
