Joe Rogan puts it well in this discussion with an Aikido expert. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yXIBi_lszsg
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:

Thats true
All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force..We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind. This Mind is the matrix of all matter.” ~ Max Planck - Quantum Theory and Nobel Prize in Physics in 1918.

Jebus wrote: I've heard this said many times in the martial arts world: "You should stop your quest of finding the perfect martial arts style, as in the end it only comes down to the individual." Imagine a high jump instructor saying the same thing: "It doesn't matter if you learn the fosbury flop, straddle style, or scissors jump, because in the end how high you jump will come down to how hard you train."
But there is a big difference. In high jump (or other athletic-like sport), there is only one way to achieve it. Of course there are many variables as style, strenght, agility etc. but in the end you have to be the best at the only thing you are focused on. But fight is different because there is another person against you. You have to think, learn, adapt and have strategy also there is more than one way towards your goal. Also on fight, there is no universal ubeatable technic. Any technic have it's strenghts and weakneses and there is defence against it.

Exactly! And this is why traditional styles are often so limited

I agree although I have no idea how that's relevant to what I wrote in my last post.

I had no idea Joe Rogan knew martial arts. He really impressed me.

As much as I hate the guy because of his comments about vegans, I have to admit that he is an excellent martial arts commentator. He has been a UFC fixture for nearly 20 years now.

Maybe it was just big misunderstanding on my side, but your comparison of martial arts and high jump made me think, that in your opion there actualy is one perfect martial art style which is above all others.
