Well it works in a weird way. The dumber you feel, the smarter you are, and vice versa. It's the main notion the Dunning Kruger effect puts forth.

Because he really just blurts out whatever the hell floats into his mind and basically admitted he doesn't think about or really give a shit about any issues, his campaign had to say he meant we shouldn't worry about changing the abortion laws "until he becomes President".
