I think I managed to eat like that because I'm pretty good with sticking to black and white rule systems, and since I ate like that so much I got accustomed to it and relatively enjoyed it, but once I started to eat Vegan junk food again in the Fall of 2016 that opened the flood gates to wondering when the next time I would eat something like salted caramel cashew based frozen dessert would be. So I screwed myself up for a few months there. It also didn't help that at this time I got a med change which greatly increased my appetite, though that could have been beneficial, actually, if I stuck to eating the healthy food.brimstoneSalad wrote:That's pretty good Dream Sphere, I don't know how you did it! That's not a bad template to follow at all. Beans, broccoli, berries, walnuts, good stuff. It sounds like you were hitting all of the bases.
I would tend more to recommend oats out of convenience, price, and sustainability, rather than being nutritionally optimal.
Anyways, I've gone back to eating healthy again and have started exercising again too, so I should be back to a good weight long before the end of the year.
Also, one thing which made the beans easier to eat was drizzling a tablespoon or two of canola oil on them. I also recently found this rich dressing which works well for mixed grains and I would assume would work well for mixed black beans and chickpeas, called Goddess dressing. So, while it's not healthy, it would be a small price to pay to make the beans a lot more palatable.
I also forgot to mention that during this period I was drinking about 200-400 ml of orange juice each day with the beans, and was also drinking 200-600 ml of tomato juice about once every two days. I think the orange juice was probably unnecessary since the vitamin C, and potassium were respectively plentiful in the broccoli/berries and beans/soy milk. I'm unsure about the tomato juice, though I don't think it'd hurt since I only get a good amount of salt from the salted sunflower seeds and don't want to be iodine deficient.
Anyways, I'll keep an update on my athletic progress for the year here, and wouldn't mind seeing other people do the same.
I went on a short hike yesterday, though half the hike was a few really steep hills. I'm going on another today with my dog which will probably be a little longer, around 45 minutes. On the upper body weight machine I've scaled the lifting amount back to just 3 weights which I would guess are about 20 pounds each and I've been doing 40 slow repetitions in each different position. I'm hoping to work up to 6 or 7 weights like I used to do by the middle of this year and all nine of them by the end of the year. Once I can do all of them I'll focus on doing heavier weights at a local gym of mine next year if not sooner. I'm also going to try to get my legs back to what they were by the middle of this year too. I doubt that these are too ambitious given the time I'll have, but we'll see.
