I think so. At least she wants to ban halal and kosher slaughter methods, but perhaps that has to do more with her hatred of immigrants than her compassion for non human animals. Brigitte Bardot backed her because of animal rights.

Maybe a little bit of both. If she's claimed she has compassion for animals, that could very well be true. We like to think well of ourselves and particularly for things like that people can become the lies they tell.
