I don't know, I think that's a tenuous comparison. Some student and black radicalism to Weather underground and Black Panthers Brink's Robbery is a much easier comparison. It's just that reckless abandon inherent to the insurrectionairy who thinks it's the only strategy that works. The violence by lone gunmen in reaction to police shootings flew in the face of BLM organized peaceful street protests and sit-ins. I remember one of the shooters said on video that he didn't agree with BLM getting up and speaking and making themselves known to the police, which was the whole concept of BLM, being visible, standing up and making it known that you feel your life is as valuable as others. The other guy shooting into the crowd of a planned BLM march obviously had other ideas to BLM. Or community riots like we saw countless times in past before BLM. Or a few racist tweets from early users of the hashtag. I'd need to see concrete examples where it looks like some BLM chapters could organizationally be evolving into something much more nefarious, like what happened to parts of the environmental movement to parts of Earth First to ELF to IAF today.brimstoneSalad wrote:ABLC had a good video on this about BLM not having an explicit statement of non-violence, I think that applies here to.
Ochay I agree, was criticizing ABLC's use of clips and what conclusions he was drawing. The use of clips in the film 'If a tree falls; a story of the Earth Liberation Front' is a really great cautionary tale for activists and police alike.brimstoneSalad wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2018 12:55 pm Non-violence positions: I think the point was that there needs to be a definitive statement against violence so that stuff can be unequivocally denounced.
