Re: Religion makes countries more violent
Well is it the religions fault that people take it seriously, so much so that it explodes into all out terrorism? No, it's the people's fault for doing such actions due to their religions. Sure, you can say that the idea (in this case, religion) causes people to act like this, but in the grand scheme of things, is it really the ideas fault that people took it seriously? Unless of course, people take every word seriosuly, so it's not much of a surprise there. Not to mention, it could also just be for more power than anything else. Pretty much every war in history was to fight to gain control of land and resoruces. Religion could just be the scapegoat.

Re: Religion makes countries more violent
Is this because religion makes people less intelligent, or less intelligent people are more likely to be religious? Have they shown it to work both ways?

While I can see how all of this would make sense, I would like to say that correlation does not imply causation.

That is what I was trying to say.
Great minds think alike. But it is definitely possible that there is causation (when one has the "right" answer they tend to stop looking), it is also a likely case that there is no causation when you consider that apologist's tend to target the less intelligent.
