They must certainly be the most hated people on the planet, even more so than murderers and torturers. I actually feel sorry for them. Of all the sexual preferences I have heard of this is the one I would least want to have. For example, I would much rather be a necrophiliac than a pedophile. I believe that pedophilia runs along a spectrum. I think there are some people who only desire to have sex with children, and I think there are some people who only desire to have sex with adults. However, there must be many people between these two opposites who chose not to have sex with children only because they are aware of the suffering they will cause, because they have other sexual desires besides children, and/or because they are scared of the consequences they themselves might have to face. I guess we can call them closet pedophiles, except that in this case the closet is a good thing.

On a related note, what are your views on chemical castration for convicted pedophiles. I have heard it described as inhumane, but I can only see positives come from it.
