Yes, that is a problem for me as well as well.Jebus wrote:I couldn't do the survey because there is some overlap and confusion in the options. For example, Italian is both a Latin and European language? Is Mauritian Creole (derived from French) a European, Latin, or African language? Anyways, I speak Swedish, English, French, German, Mauritian Creole and a bit of Spanish.
Anyway I speak Greek, English, Croatian (as I have lived in Croatia for several years), a bit of German, and now I am studying Swedish, as I live in Sweden.

Do you find Swedish difficult to learn, compared to Croatian and German?metalized wrote:now I am studying Swedish, as I live in Sweden.

The same reason there isn't one international language..Jebus wrote:

American Sign Language is different than Signed English ..
ASL has different grammar similar to Chinese actually..
In England they even sign numbers differently.
The true international language is facial expressions.

I don't know when the first sign language was developed, but I would assume the world was already connected at this point. I would definitely support an initiative to develop an international sign language.

In every deaf community they have their own slang way of signing and they've made up their own signs too.. The signanguage in south Florida differs than the sign language used in California...Jebus wrote:

Why?
Communities make up their own way of communicating .. It's human nature . The biggest part of communication in sign language is facial expressions ..

talk about a late reply, need to check my notification settingsJebus wrote:Do you find Swedish difficult to learn, compared to Croatian and German?metalized wrote:now I am studying Swedish, as I live in Sweden.

I learned German many years ago (got the Grundstuffe diploma from the Goethe Iinstitute), and never really used it, so it has gotten rusty.
Having said that
- No Swedish is definitely the easiest to learn of the 3. It is like oversimplified German with hints of English. But the real difficult part of it is to understand what they are saying
- Croatian has been the most difficult to learn, as I had to learn it by living in the country, without having any contact with the language before.
- German is difficult at first I think, but really not that bad in the end.
