Why would I have to be joking? The theory of relativity does sound ridiculous. Space-time curving, time slowing down as you go fast enough... It does sound less ridiculous when you understand the thought experiment with the mirror in a train going near the speed of light, though. Just like my ideas that prisons or bombs do not exist sound less ridiculous once you hear the reasoning behind them.

What does that mean?

That is how you conserve your mental health, at the very least.

It does the opposite actually.

How can it possibly do that? What makes you think it does?

And do you think I should also install antivirus software on my computer, in spite of thinking they are worse than useless? I think the analogy is rather appropriate. The consensus among ignorant public is obviously that antivirus programs (just like masks) help. There is also a lot of propaganda highlighting the importance of them. But it is hard to tell what the expert consensus is. And if you try to do your own research, you will find that the evidence they help is surprisingly thin, and that there is even some evidence that they are counter-productive. I am studying computer science at the university, so I can safely tell you it is like that with antivirus software.

How is denying obvious reality a sign of good mental health

Obvious reality is that the Earth is flat. Hardly anything is more obvious than that the Earth is flat, and even that is false.

My psychiatrist and I strongly suspect my psychotic disorder was caused by, or at least made significantly worse, by me taking paracetamol together with high doses of caffeine (because I have read that it can relieve me of a bad headache). So, please, don't do that! Many websites will warn you against taking paracetamol together with alcohol, because it damages your liver in a way that can easily kill you. But I have not seen anybody warning you against taking caffeine and paracetamol together, and that is also dangerous.

I have reduced my caffeine from back when I had a coffee for each day to having a green tea usually for each day. For doing what I can to be healthiest that I can manage, I have for almost seven years been eating whole foods for my meals, reducing and eliminating processed foods, and also allergens, while I have been vegan about nine and a half years, and have avoided meat from animals years longer. With the healthy way, I avoid medications, other than Exedrin, and just take a couple of vitamin supplements and now often supplements for zinc. I haven't been drinking anything alcoholic even longer than going without meat, nearly twenty years.
