I wasn't trying to download findwide toolbar. It came bundled in an installer for free, open-source software, from the project page promoted by some of the developers.
It just goes to show, not all open-source developers are scrupulous.
Of course, I could have found the source and made my own build, but I didn't want to be bothered.
As soon as I noticed (a couple minutes after installing) I killed it with fire.
