Brimstone what are your issues with Peter Singer?
I'd like to see Matthew Scully (author of Dominion) vs Peter Singer.
I quite liked the Friedrich-Francione debate. Friedrich sounded reasonable https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=akFdn-sa3EM
I also liked the Ringach-Francione debate on animal experimentation

Mainly that discussed here: https://theveganatheist.com/forum/viewt ... f=17&t=510garrethdsouza wrote:Brimstone what are your issues with Peter Singer?
Our differences are probably pretty subtle for most people.

So you don't think that a debate between you and Francione would be interesting? Would you want to do it if somehow he came onto the forum? Unfortunately this would never happen, though.brimstoneSalad wrote:So, I don't think there would be much of a discussion to have. I would have to start by dismantling his religious beliefs, and then go on from there if there was anything left to him.
Hypothetically, if such a debate were to happen (either on the forum or somewhere else), do you think that it might have some benefit to the vegan movement? Perhaps by exposing the irrationality of Francione's doctrines to any devout Franciobots who might read/watch the debate?
Do you think that a debate between Matt Dillahunty and TheVeganAtheist would be more interesting? Regarding: Is Veganism a Moral Obligation? Unfortunately this is also very unlikely, because Dillahunty lacks the intellectual courage to speak about this serious ethical problem which he's participating in.

Re: Who would be in your dream debate
It would end up being an argument against his religious beliefs, not about veganism. Once his absurd supernatural beliefs were dismantled, the rest would be trivial.ArmouredAbolitionist wrote: So you don't think that a debate between you and Francione would be interesting?
It might be interesting to some people, to see how I'd dismantle his religious beliefs.
I wouldn't want to, but I suppose I would.ArmouredAbolitionist wrote: Would you want to do it if somehow he came onto the forum?
It would be frustrating for me, but maybe useful to destroy his pseudo-philosophy.
It might be, but I think that's already done pretty well in the thread. Francione isn't likely to continue to appeal to anybody who isn't his or herself religious in his way after reading that.ArmouredAbolitionist wrote: Hypothetically, if such a debate were to happen (either on the forum or somewhere else), do you think that it might have some benefit to the vegan movement? Sure, but I don't think it would happen. Matt probably knows he's wrong, and wants to avoid the topic as much as possible.ArmouredAbolitionist wrote: Do you think that a debate between Matt Dillahunty and TheVeganAtheist would be more interesting?
