It would end up being an argument against his religious beliefs, not about veganism. Once his absurd supernatural beliefs were dismantled, the rest would be trivial.

It might be, but I think that's already done pretty well in the thread. Francione isn't likely to continue to appeal to anybody who isn't his or herself religious in his way after reading that.
