Hi Guys

Post by The6thMessenger »

Hi guys, i'm The6thMessenger.

I like Music (Owl City, prior to Midsummer Station), Dota 2 (not lol), Guns (real guns, not water guns or penises), and murder (meat).

As an atheist, i don't fully assume that there is no god, i just don't expect there to be and ready to accept that there is should sufficient evidence comes. However, my issue with Theism is it's implication. If "god" as in a creator, then sure it might exist, like the Universe itself as Pantheism or as an equation like Michio Kaku said, but "god" as in "my-god-exists-therefore-you-will-do-what-i-say-and-can't-do-certain-things-because-my-god-says-so" then we have a problem. I see religion as more of to control minds, an archaic form of mind control that unfortunately still works.

Welcome The6thMessenger!
What do you think of veganism? How'd you become an atheist? (Assuming you weren't raised in a secular family)

I think veganism is too extreme, i like meat but i understand it's implication, bad effects for myself and others, yet i do like meat. I think it is too extreme because meat-eating is a bit of a social glue for humans ever since, and taking away that can be too much. So the way i think to satisfy both meat-eaters and veganism altogether is like turning meat into candy or something that it doesn't comprise our massive diet, but still exists like a delicacy or something. Like 90% vegetable, and only 10% or lower meat.

I became atheist because i grew up in a catholic school, and i ended up admitting that i am an atheist during my first year highschool, an i swear i remember their God-of-the-gaps shit. Religion in itself to me is unreasonable, all they have is the book but no evidence at all, it's just they accept what it says without any question, and what authority says without questions.

I remember my teacher saying "(gusto nyo ba na galing tayo sa mga unggoy?) do yo want to believe that we came from monkeys?", like that's the nature of truth -- regardless of whether you want it to be true or not, true is true. Of course i am aware that monkeys (being non-human primates) are our cousins, my teacher's argument is bullshit.

The way i see it, religion is nothing more than a tool to control others. After all, they care more about telling you what to do, than whether what they believe is actually true. If they are so sure that their religion is right, why do they get so insecure with criticisms? I understand that nobody cannot confirm that a god is real or not, but my issue with them is the implications of if he does exists, and why on earth do i have to do what they told me to the possibility of he existing instead of actually confirming it.

What do you think is the most effective way to get rid of an unhealthy habit like smoking, gambling, or meat eating?

1 Go cold turkey and stop completely

2. Keep doing it but less than you really want
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

Depends on how unhealthy you make of things, what if gambling is not entirely bad like simple gambles like simply taking risks from a video game or friendly wager from one friend to another, future cigar and cigarettes might have different chemicals that is significantly safer to smoke that don't lead to significant ill effects, what if procuring and eating meat is significantly safer that we can eliminate the health effects and dire effects on the environment?

I pick #3 -- same as #2, but appended with "case to case basis, depending on different factors. And if it is really bad but i want it, i might slowly and gradually minimize to an extent i am comfortable with.".
