Intro to myself
Hi I'm a long time vegan and atheist living in Sydney, Australia. I'm looking forward to hearty discussions about everything!

Re: Intro to myself
Welcome. Great to have another vegan atheist here. You definitely came to the right place.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

Welcome KIP, I hope you like it here.
How did you find us? How long have you been vegan/atheist?

Re: Intro to myself
welcome KIP, finally another Aussie!!!
vegan: to exclude—as far as is practicable—all forms of exploitation of, and cruelty to, animals for any purpose; and by extension, promotes the development and use of animal-free alternatives for the benefit of humans, animals and the environment.

Re: Intro to myself
Vegan for fifteen years, atheist for about five. Nothing really before that, just floating around, vaguely looking at Buddhism (apparently that's common for many atheists) but not really cottoning on to the whole reincarnation bull. I was 'saved' by Christopher Hitchens.brimstoneSalad wrote:Welcome KIP, I hope you like it here.

Hi knowledge is power, thanks for joining the community, and welcome! Ive not had an opportunity to ask an Australian before, but how is it being vegan in your community?

I think, statistically speaking, vegans are about 1% of the population. Vegetarians are 5%. Not sure how recent those stats are though.TheVeganAtheist wrote:Hi knowledge is power, thanks for joining the community, and welcome! Personally, I work in a blue collar mostly right wing workplace so you can probably guess how much respect I get. However they don't bother me too much anymore, as it's more typical for me, being a 'female'. I doubt my colleagues would be as respectful to a male vegan.
