Hi I'm Susanne ^^

Post by sanna143 »

Hi everybody :D So, I hope this is the right site to post my introduction..xD
My name is susanne and I'm 19 years old. I'm a vegan, as most ppl on this site and I just wanted to chat with some "like minded" humans.
It's so hard to find vegans here where I live. People usually drink a lot of milk here (scandinavia) and when I tell them why I don't consume animal products, some of them reply things like "but the cows here have a much better lives than the cows in the US!!" and so on..as if that's an argument..

I started out as a pescetarian when I was around 13. When I turned 16 I became a lacto-ovo-vegetarian and when I was 18 I became a vegan. A slow progress..
At the moment I'm studying in college (we call it the "university"). I'm having German (I can speak German almost fluently) and I will also study religion/history as a second subject (I hope to be a teacher in the future). We'll see, maybe I change my mind.

:) So now you know a little about me. Have a nice day

Hej Sanna. Welcome to our community.

In which country do you live? I think Sweden and Denmark are among the best places in the world to be vegan. Norway, however, is a completely different story.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

Hi:) Haha, well I live in Norway ^^ Yes I think it's a bit "easier" to be vegan in denmark and sweden, (there are more vegan products there) but I manage.

Hi Susanne, welcome!

It's great that you've gone vegan pretty young. I hope you like it here.

Do you find religion a pretty fascinating field to study?

Thanks :D
Yea I do, for several reasons.
I've experienced that many religious ppl dont even know what their religion is about (like they dont know whats written in the bible, all the hypocrisy etc). Even my mom who is a Catholic has not read the bible, not a single page. And when I started reading some of the bible, I confronted her (female discrimination, stoning, torture etc) and I asked her if she believed in stuff like that and she didn't reply. I think that if I (or anyone) wants to criticize something, then I should have knowledge about it.
I once told some orthodox christians that I was a vegan, and they got shocked. They said that it said in the bible, that god had given us the animals for food, and I said no, actually the bible says that god gave us all the plants to eat. Anyway..I just love the hypocrisy..on one page it's all about "the loving god" and on the other it's about the "vengeful god". I just find it interesting, annoying and funny at the same time.

Hi Susanne welcome!

Its great to see a young vegan i wish i had learned more about it when i was younger... Also i love what ive read and seen about the nordic countries, how is the religious atmosphere where you live. I live in the southern united states so its every where around me, churches on every corner, signs, billboards, bumper stickers on every other vehicle. Ive been handed religious pamphlets at the grocery store! more than once! I have children so i worry a lot about what they are told in public school.

Any way just curious what its like in scandinavia ive seriously thought about emigrating one day!

Hi ^^ I know people in the southern US are so religious. I think that would shock me a bit, because most people here are not religious at all.
At least it's not noticable. Most Norwegians are just "chilled out". I haven't seen a person wearing a "Christ necklace" for years.
The people I know of that are Christians are not strict christians at all..They usually do what we also do like drinking alcohol, wearing normal clothes, they don't go to church..nd so on. They usually don't talk about religion unless someone starts to talk about it.
We have some churches here and there and we have some really old churches that are tourist attractions. There are more religious people in our capital, because that's where most of the immigrants end up (mostly from asia/africa/eastern Europe).
If you like weather temp between -5 and 30 degrees celsius (usually not more than 30 degrees) then u should visit Norway and the nature is beautiful.
And now I'm attending a party, so see u guys :)

Hi, I'm not religious, I don't belong to any religious organization or group. I just have my own experiences and it's personal. It doesn't affect anybody, where religion on the other hand is organized to control people. They have their teachings, "holy" books and rituals. And it's using fear as a weapon to manipulate ppl and keep them in their place. It's so messed up. I've never really wanted to be a part of something that doesnt make sense.

Do you believe in a god? The supernatural?
