Hello everyone.
I am Pope. (seriously, not a blaspheme joke) I have been openly atheist for 13 years, give or take. I am not a Vegan, nor could I be. As a Texan, I have heard every argument a Christian could possibly make. Yes, I am aware that there is a possibility that some Christian could come up with an argument that is new. However, I doubt it. My natural approach to people is a respectful one. I am naturally sarcastic, and hope no one gets offended by that.

Pretty sure it's better to start a new post.

Greetings Pope!
Are you openly atheistic? How do people respond?

Also...Why can't you be vegan? I imagine it would either be a parental issue or something more trivial such as taste, "willpower," etc. (are there medical reasons for why one cannot be vegan?)

There are no medical contraindications for veganism given a properly planned vegan diet.

The closest thing is a severe intolerance/allergy to cellulose (vegetable fiber, present in all plants) or other common enzymes or substances, in which case a diet based primarily on mushrooms/other fungi, supplements, and/or processed/cooked vegetables or juices with the fiber removed or the problematic enzymes broken down is suitable.

This guy is supposedly allergic to cellulose (although he can eat vegetables if they are cooked):

He says he avoids fruits and vegetables just to be safe, which is stupid and not safe at all because he's just trading one easily controlled danger (controlled by just cooking things) for another from eating a poor diet as a consequence.

Anyway: There's no evidence that there's anybody who can not be vegan. The notion that there are people who can not be vegan is not scientific.

Hi TheAtheistPope, welcome to the forum. Why can't you be a vegan exactly?

As a child, I went several weeks without meat in my diet. Veggies and other things were brought in and I still got really sick. The doctor told my mother to get me some red meat and see if that helps. Brought red meat back into my diet and I was right as rain. There is also the joke that I could get kicked out of Texas if I went vegan. I do however eat vegetarian several times a week. But chicken fajitas and steaks are just so tasty. I have also witnessed a few guys in my line of work that were vegan. I am a welder and train repairman. They didn't have any strength. They couldn't do the job and were gone with in a week or two. I took a sledgehammer to the arm, spinning my hand 180 degrees. Doctors said I would never get the usage of my hand back. I am proving them wrong daily and should be able to return to my rail yard in a month or so. I attribute this to many things. One of which is dietary. Oh, I failed to mention one important thing. I am down right horrible with technology. I still have no idea how to use twitter. Laugh all you want. I won't be offended. My roommate tried to teach me. She gave up after twenty minutes.

If you can get past trivial justifications like taste, the forum would likely be very happy to help you plan out a healthy vegan diet. As a vegan, I am often filled with energy and don't doubt that I could gain muscle mass and strength of I put in the time and reorganized my diet and schedule.
