Greetings and Salutation to everyone on the forums.
Just registered about a minute ago and figured I would introduce myself before I started to browse the forums content.
My name is Steve and I am a meat -eater at present, I say at present because while I would like to move to a healthier diet my circumstances at this time do not allow it. I will probably be making a post at some point asking for tips to help make at least a start to a transition but I will put off on that.
I am an atheist, a gamer and all around nerd. I will always talk about Star Wars with anyone, period.
But can't think about much else to say at the moment, if you have questions feel free to ask.

Hi Saetas, welcome!
Great to hear you're open minded and working on change. We'll be glad to offer tips if you post about your troubles; I'm sure a lot of us have been there.
How do you feel about Disney's acquisition of Star Wars?

Re: Hello everyone
I was at first skeptical, especially when I heard about the new movies, that said since I have come to see that they at least seem to be respecting the franchise and since at the least the first Pirates of the Caribbean was decent I know they can make good live action movies. So I am cautiously optimistic about the future.

Re: Hello everyone
Hi Steve, welcome to the forum. Nice to have another gamer and Star Wars fan here. Do you plan on getting the new SW Battlefront? How do you feel about the revision of the Star Wars canon? I personally don't mind since I wasn't such a fan of most of the extended universe (except for KOTOR, which I liked very much). I heard there was some bull$#!& in the extended universe about Chewbacca dying. Glad to see he's spitting in the face of death by showing up in The Force Awakens.
Also pleased that The Clone Wars and Rebels qualify as canon. Rebels got especially good with its Season 1 finale and Season 2 premier (with James Earl Jones voicing Darth Vader again).

Hi Saetas, I am 17 years old, have never seen Star Wars and do not intend to. Am I, metaphorically, the stubborn meat-eater to your veganism, the new earth creationist zealot to your atheism?
Anyway, glad to see you're open minded, you came to the right place.

Re: Hello everyone
You probably should, at least the original three. There's a lot of cultural capital built upon the franchise. It's like knowing a bit about Greek Mythology, the Bible, or Shakespeare.miniboes wrote:Hi Saetas, I am 17 years old, have never seen Star Wars and do not intend to.
The notion that only old things are of artistic of cultural value doesn't hold water. Star Wars is one of the best known and most pervasive myths of our time.

I do not plan on getting the new battlefront, at least until after its release because I want to see if there is more to it than the multi-player since I do like a bit of story to my games. I do think they could have kept at least some of the extended universe since there is so much there to at least take bits and pieces from. As far as Chewbacca dying, some people have to die eventually, it is a natural thing so eventually if you go far enough along all the main characters would be dead. I do not mind it. Never watched Clone Wars or Rebels so I cannot say.

Well not a vegan yet, but open to it. but I do think it is possible for people to get along even if they have little in common. Nice to meet you regardlessminiboes wrote:Hi Saetas, I am 17 years old, have never seen Star Wars and do not intend to. Yes. I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of Star Wars fans read this post of yours and suddenly cried out in terror.miniboes wrote:Hi Saetas, I am 17 years old, have never seen Star Wars and do not intend to. I'd recommend seeing at least the original trilogy (Episodes 4, 5, and 6), and finish watching them before December 18th. After that go see Episode 7 in the cinema. If you despise Science Fiction as a genre then I'd understand your reluctance to see Star Wars, but if you like Science Fiction (or at least are indifferent to it) then I'd say that SW episodes 4 through 7 are worth seeing.
The prequel trilogy movies (Episodes 1, 2, and 3) are often harshly criticized by hardcore fans of the original trilogy for their flaws, but I think that they're still enjoyable to watch. There are some aspects of the prequels that I think are improvements over the originals, which hardcore-original-trilogy-zealots are unwilling to acknowledge. I'd say that this video linked below is a good overview of ways in which the prequels are better:

I especially agree with the first two points about:
1. lightsaber duels (prequel trilogy) > lightsaber duels (original trilogy)
2. clone troopers > stormtroopers*
*The guy in the video makes a joke about stormtroopers being clone troopers who got old, but I'd like to make it clear that Original Trilogy stormtroopers ARE NOT clones of Jango Fett (a common misconception; most, if not all, are not even clones). The clone troopers of Ep. 2 & 3 ARE all clones of Jango Fett.

I very much agree that the lightsaber duels were better in the prequels. Which reminds me I am going to save up money to order a custom saber sometime soonArmouredAbolitionist wrote:I especially agree with the first two points about:
