KLM Air France have four levels on their frequent flyer program. Gold, SIlver, Platinum, and finally . . . Ivory!!!! WTF!!! I find it aberrant that they would compare Ivory with value commodities.

Air France, by the way, is the airline that ships Mauritius monkeys to labs around the world (mainly the U.S.). Only China exports more monkeys so this in itself is worth a boycott.

KLM might be more receptive considering Holland recently became the first nation to outlaw the use of circus animals.

Please let me know if you have any thoughts or ideas that I can include in a letter of complaint to these airlines.

I personally find it disgusting that they're calling it ivory, but to pick on words like that (even really stupid ones), would sound a little too Social Justice Warrior for my taste.

Can we show a clear reason why calling their highest level 'Ivory' would in any way increase demand for elephant Ivory, or harm elephants? It may, but it also may not.
It might just be a word, because they ran out of well known precious metals.

They could perhaps have used "diamond", but those come with their own abuses too, unfortunately.

Any kind of very high value commodity is going to tend to be evil by vice of its value density and the abuses people will abide to acquire them (and their trade supporting war, etc.).


About the monkey transport; that's pretty terrible. I'm not sure what could be done about it, though. How many airlines fly there?
And does Air France have the lowest fares? It may be because they're transporting monkeys that they can give human passengers lower rates.

The best way to stop them would be to cost them money, certainly, but it's hard to convince people not to fly that airline if the fares are the cheapest. There needs to be a viable competitor. If there is a competitor, then contact them. Explain that you prefer their airline over Air France because of the Monkey thing, and work with them to help convince consumers to choose that one over Air France.
