Hi everybody.
I'm from India. I was raised as a lacto vegetarian but now I'm a vegan. My friends and family aren't vegan so I don't get to talk about it with them so I'm here! :D

That's great that you've gone vegan. Is it hard for people there to understand?

Yes most people don't understand vaganism because mostly people in India are vegetarians and non vegetarians. Most vegetarians are HIndus because the religion doesn't permit consumption of anything that has cruelty involved in it however vegetarians don't become vegan because they think milk production doesn't involve cruelty. It might have been true till a couple of hundred years ago but it's not true anymore and people don't want to come out of their comfort zone, plus there is a LOT of misinformation about health and nutrition. I've never met a vegan but I just found a couple of facebook groups of Indian vegans so that's nice.
