Please refer to the political compass.

Post by Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz »

Yo.

Do you have heard the political compass chart? This boy Let's be in four categories.
Authoritarian Left - Social Right, Economic Left. This includes the country and your citizenship, such as North Korea to ban communism and your freedom, but you will have a left-wing socialist economy.
Authoritarian Right - Social Right, Economic Right. Their economy is mainly rather than the Third Way, but was right wing, which includes the Nazi Germany. Also, to a lesser extent with the US Republican Party, including the UK Conservative Party
Libertarian Left - Social Left, Economic Left. This includes Sweden and other Social Democratic Party countries. In addition, Jeremy Corbin and Bernie Sanders.
Libertarian Right - Social Left, Economic Right. This is a greedy and Ayn Rand, and the like to allow the freedom and rights of citizens.

You can take the test here! : https://www.politicalcompass.org/test
If you know the political compass, why does not your own chart? : http://www.politicalcompass.org/crowdchart?showform

Libertarian Left - Social Left, Economic Left. This includes Sweden
Most of western Europe could be considered libertarian left, but I wouldn't put Sweden in that category anymore since it's become very authoritarian. Imagine what a country run by Atheism+ would look like -- that's Sweden for ya

I find these terms very weird. In the US, political terms have been skewed to mean very different things from what they mean in Europe, or in any case the Netherlands. Liberal, for example, is some mix between what we would call liberalism and democratic socialism.

The political compass is also a thing here, but in my political science classes we use different terms:
- Progressive/Conservative: These terms refer to the degree in which an individual has freedom to decide how he fulfills his life. This is what I think you're referring to with "Social left/right". These terms refer to questions like euthanasia, same-sex marriage, etc. For a progressive, the individual is the most important, and for a conservative collective values are more important than individual freedom.
- Left/Right: These terms refer to the degree of government influence/control. Someone on the left wants a relatively large government influence, someone on the right wants a small government influence.

The Dutch site kieskompas.nl places the American presidential candidates like this: (the red pin is me according to their test. You can go to usa.kieskompas.nl and do it yourself)
Image
They translated 'Progressief' to 'Liberal'. Sadly, the candidates that dropped out are no longer on there.

Edit: I found an older screenshot.
