The Triggering (how political correctness gone too far?)

Great panel. A lot of youtubers are reporting on the crazy SJWs who interrupted it (like triggery puff), and posting clips, but the full thing is probably worth watching.
It's a shame that it has to be the Republicans who are promoting reason here. We may be seeing a serious shift in the parties coming up with this election, where Republicans may end up leaning more libertarian.

What did you like about the panel? It was certainly entertaining, but the protestors and rigid structure made it impossible for any discussion to happen. Plus, it was mostly short lectures by Milo and Hoff. I don't think Steven really make any valuable contributions.
Do you think it will become worthwhile to vote Republican to prevent these issues?

Christina Hoff is actually a registered Democrat. I enjoyed the discussion for the main premise that even if you disagree with someone, they have the right to speak. The protesters actually reinforced the panel's argument.Cirion Spellbinder wrote: Do you think it will become worthwhile to vote Republican to prevent these issues?

Like PsYcHo said, the interruptions kind of made their point; without that banter it probably would have been much less interesting.Cirion Spellbinder wrote:What did you like about the panel? I'm not sure if Steven has ever had anything intelligent to say. I watched for Milo and Christina.Cirion Spellbinder wrote:Plus, it was mostly short lectures by Milo and Hoff. I don't think Steven really make any valuable contributions.
It's kind of an open question. Sanders was pushing this stuff, and I think it might have been worth it to vote against him on those grounds (although I more opposed him on grounds of his anti-science positions on Nuclear power, GMO technology, and medicine), I'm not sure if Hillary does.Cirion Spellbinder wrote:Do you think it will become worthwhile to vote Republican to prevent these issues?
It may be a sign of things to come. The hate and racism coming out of for example the BLM crowd is very disturbing, and we're unlikely to see much opposition from the left.

The Trump campaign couldn't have better unwitting advocates than those BLM students.

Some points of view deserve to be booed, possibly, I need to think about it more. However, by being in the audience, you agree to not interrupt the people talking. In my opinion the moderator or the speakers should have been more firm and stopped the proceedings unless it could happen in orderly fashion. Why tolerate poor behavior at your own venue?

Also, I think the concept of being emotionally correct is more important than being politically correct. As far as I could tell none of the people, with the possible exception of the woman speaker, either on stage or in the audience were emotionally correct at all. Provocative, mean, hurtful, rude and angry.

One of the speakers in the OP raised a good point about how providing the UK nazi party with a platform actually diminished their following.

These were paid speakers scheduled for this particular time. To stop the event would be the equivalent of saying "Well, everyone gathered here just to here these three people, a few really loud, rude people disagree with them, so none of us may listen."AlexanderVeganTheist wrote: In my opinion the moderator or the speakers should have been more firm and stopped the proceedings unless it could happen in orderly fashion. I think Political Correctness has gone too far. I watched a trailer for the Ghost busters movie and but I did not think it looked so bad, Dizzy laughed because he did not like it. When he added his thoughts online, people called him a misogynist. I think it is stupid.

Alternatively he should have gotten the loudmouths out... I couldn't hear what they were saying anyway... But it's like pandering to the angry people, and allowing them to set the mood for the debate.PsYcHo wrote:These were paid speakers scheduled for this particular time.
