All Hands on Deck and Bracing for Impact

Post by EquALLity »

Please phone bank for Hillary Clinton if you can!
Seriously though, even if you're not in America. If you can vaguely speak English, please, make calls for Hillary Clinton. Anything helps.
https://www.hillaryclinton.com/calls/

Trump is making comebacks all across the country. Hillary is only winning New Hampshire by an average of three points, she's also barely leading in Virginia, North Carolina, and PENNSYLVANIA and MICHIGAN (not sure how those two are close at all), and Florida as well. The last two polls had Trump ahead in Nevada.
This election is crazy... he really can win. According to fivethirtyeight, he has about a third of a chance. That's insane.

If you can make just five calls, that helps. Really, anything does help.
If you have any questions about calling you can ask me. :) Or you can try to contact the Clinton campaign through their email, but that didn't really work when I was trying to ask them a question.
Their script basically asks you to pretend to be from the town that the voter is in, which I don't do. You don't need to follow the script EXACTLY (I can't do that without sounding like a robot), but makes sure you ask the key stuff, like:
1) Are you a Hillary supporter?
2) Can we count on your vote tomorrow? (it puts responsibility on the voter when you say that)?
etc.

Can you make calls too? I know you're not in the US (right?), but I'm pretty sure you write in English more eloquently than most native English speakers. ;)

Maybe. I'm not quite sure how the time zones work. I'm about to go to bed so the earliest I could do it would be in 8 hours. Will the election be over by then?

It's 6:35 pm on the east coast and three hrs earlier in the west. The site always lists the open phone banks, you only get #s from those areas at which calling is appropriate. You'll see how that works when you get started. All the phone banks will probably be closed, since it'll be far past nine and up to 1 am ish depending on where you're calling (Florida almost 1am, Nevada almost 10pm). It'll probably be around eight hours after you wake up until the phone banks are open again (so around 9 am on the east coast).
That's the morning of election day, so it's definitely still important to call then if you can!

Also, if you can call, I'd prioritize the states like this:
1) Florida (definitely, it's SUPER close and has a LOT of electoral votes)
2) Hard to decide between North Carolina and Pennsylvania... Pennsylvania has five more electoral votes, but it's closer in North Carolina. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-election-forecast/
3) Michigan
4) Colorado
6) Nevada
7) New Mexico
8) New Hampshire
9) Arizona

After the first three, it's debatable about which are most important. Definitely call Florida, North Carolina, or Pennsylvania if you can though. :)

Not too worried. Market odds down to 1.2 for Hillary compared to 1.4 a week ago.
How to become vegan in 4.5 hours:
1.Watch Forks over Knives (Health)
2.Watch Cowspiracy (Environment)
3. Watch Earthlings (Ethics)
Congratulations, unless you are a complete idiot you are now a vegan.

I also think you're doing great work, EquALLity. Sorry you can't vote yet. I guess you can look forward to the next election, though.

I voted earlier today, and you'll be glad to know that I didn't vote for the orange man-baby (sorry if there are any babies or oranges on this forum who are offended by this). :P
