paranormal activity, why/how is it possible that some people experience it!??

Post by k.sumee »

So I don't really believe in any kind of out of body experience or like ghost or anything but what I'm so confused about is that when there are places that are hunted and becomes a visit attraction people go to just look around and them visitors actually report either seeing things/feeling things and so on, it's not scientifically possible but how and why do people make such claims and ik that some people are mentally ill so they hallucinate and things but there are so many reported cases so are they all just ill? On youtube, the Channel BuzzFeed post videos of this series called Unsolved and one of their newest called The Spirits Of The Whaley House and one of the guys heard a whisper and they got it on recording so that just confused me and I know don't believe everything on the internet but I just feel like there are more then just a case reported to feel paranormal activity and how can it be that anyone who reported it was mentally ill?
so yeah just hope someone could make it clearer for me(:

It doesn't take mental illness to be subject to the placebo effect, or to see minor hallucinations or experience false memory due to expectation. The eyes play tricks on everybody.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia

If the person has been primed with the idea of "ghost", and particularly if that person believes there is a ghost, any unknown sound or fuzzy perception (in the dark, in a reflection, out of the corner of the eye) will be reinterpreted by the brain. Then the memory takes over, and each time the person recalls and tells the story it becomes exaggerated. When once the person thought he or she heard a sound and saw something that kind of looked like a figure in a shadow, after a few retellings the person can be convinced it was a shriek from a woman in black staring at him or her from down the hall, details added each time. That's not mental illness, it's very normal human psychology, and indicates the severe limits of memory representing credible experience.

There are also plenty of pranksters out there (don't rule it out that you're being duped when somebody is selling something, from a tour to click-bait to get you to watch a video), but pareidolia applies to sound too. You can hear voices in static or random sounds pretty easily if you go through enough of them.

See:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_voice_phenomenon

If you ask some paranormal investigators to evaluate sounds from a "haunted" place, and a non-haunted place, and you don't tell them which is which, the answers will be random; you can find sounds in anything.

About 42% of Americans believe in Goasts. Why do you think paranormal horror films make shitloads of cash on a next to nothing budget?

I mean, y'know, I'm still kinda afraid of the dark, but I know that it's all in my imagination. It's usually when I see something creepy, then after about a week I forget about it.

It frustrates me when people take a picture that they say has a goast in it, yet it may as well just have been photoshoped, or maybe an odd coincidence. Like those people who think that the old photo of a woman with her hand to her ear is using a cell phone and therefore a time traveler (wouldn't make sense to think that she's simply scratching her head).

But hey, people believe in God, so it makes sense that people believe in Goasts ;) .

ohh, right never thought I'd be like a placebo effect but thanks for the explanation.
also, that's true most ghosts are always linked to a religion especially Islam they have ghosts that worship god so I guess it's all linked

Well, they have Jinn (الجن), and many are said to be Muslims. They aren't spirits of the dead, though, but another creation of Allah with free will (unlike angels, but like man). They're pretty important to Islamic theology, since Shaytan was(is/are) of the Jinn.
