So I'm a Mice Killer Apparently

Post by EquALLity »

Sooo... my father was in my room yesterday and decided to set a mouse trap for some reason (without telling me of course :D ), and he caught a mouse in a trap under my bed. :(
This is probably because I bring food into my room. See, I need to stop doing that. Then they'll go away, right?

Sometimes at night I'll hear random noises in my room, and I just brush it off and assume it's some random shit. Like at night when you hear a clump. You don't know what it is, but you figure it's nothing. I wonder... are some of the things I've heard mice? Because I haven't just heard clumps.
I literally heard squeaking when I walked into my room today. <.< It stopped after a few seconds.
And right now I'm in my bed, and I heard some noises... they could be under me as I type this. Poor mice. :(

Mice are so fricking adorable. As long as they're not albino mice with red eyes, that's disturbing. But at the same time, the thought of them being under me as I sleep isn't really something I am excited about.
I don't understand how they even got in here. Seriously, what did they do? Did they come up the stairs? Or dig holes through the wall???

Well, either way, they're here.
How do you guys deal with "pest" control? Obviously we should get humane traps, which I've brought up a lot, but they don't seem to care. Will they just go away naturally if I stop bringing food?
Should I go under my bed and clean that mess up? What if they have a nest down there or something? o_O

Mice are extremely agile, and can crawl through a hole just slightly bigger than their skull. They can also increase the size of the hole in most household materials. They are also extremely adept at breeding. One pair can multiply exponentially over a few months, since they have short gestation and no qualms about interbreeding. (I believe even medical testing grade mice aren't considered inbred until over several dozen matings.) If there is more than one, there is definitely more that one.

Remove any food sources, but sadly, if they have taken to nesting in your residence, they are extremely adept at getting to food. Even food stored in boxes or containers will not keep them out if they discover it. Buying live traps is expensive, but they are relatively cheap to make if you are a bit handy. Since you are a Vegan, I shouldn't have to tell you to use peanut butter, not cheese. (Mice prefer peanut butter, I have no idea where the cheese thing comes from.) There are actually a few videos on YT about making live traps.
Alcohol may have been a factor.

He just wanted me to clean my room. What an asshole. Holy shit...

Ok, well at least no mice died. That's good.
