Have any of you lost loved ones?

My dog Frodo passed away yesterday evening.

He'd been getting progressively weaker for months, suffering from cancer and severe old age. I'm relieved that his pain has finally ended.
I'm grateful to have had Frodo as part of my family for almost 15 years. I'll always remember his jubilance, energy, and kindness. He brought me so much happiness over the years. On days that I've felt down, he could always cheer me up.

It's going to be difficult now, to remind myself that he's no longer around. So many fond memories; running with him at parks, playing fetch with his favorite glove (which he eventually tore to shreds), and of course howling like a wolf as I played my clarinet.

I'm saddened now to realize that I'll never see him again. However, I don't regret a second of the time I've spent with him, ever since his day of adoption on August 17th, 2002.

For anyone who has lost pets, family, or firends; would you like to share your experiences with them? I'm feeling really sad now, but I'm curious to hear any happy stories that any of you might have, of good times that you've spent with anyone who's no longer with you. I've been thinking of all my good times with Frodo. Grateful to him for being with me for so long.

Me and Jebus were talking about our old dogs recently LightningMan:

It's a really touching story how you relate it, I know I'm going to be heartbroken when my old dog goes. It's really sorrowful just knowing they're not long for this lifeworld much longer and trying to hold onto the idiosyncrasies that we cherish.

The other dog died last year of a stroke we think, declined over 2 days and euthanized when she was really out of it. Both been there through all the trials of growing up as rocks, taking them on camping hols and mountain bike explores.

I'm cycle training with the welsh sheepdog next door now, sounds cold but having another dog to put that energy into is the way to go as well as mad exercise if you're into that, teaches you how to shift mental states fast.

This always sucks. One of our dogs is very sick and I fear we will soon have to make that dreaded last drive to the vet. Personally I find the most difficult time is during the last days and moments. Once it is done I feel sad but I tend to recover quickly although I often think about my fallen furry friends.
