How many seconds does it take for you to solve a rubix cube?

Post by King of the Infidels »

Okay so I got my rubix cube two christmasses ago and I've been trying to solve it for a long while. I made a mistake scrambling it because now I can't get it back to its original colours. I mean wow. I got it all to one colour (the colour was green btw  the smiley is green thats why i chose it) but then my stepbrother came in and said "oh is that a rubix cube I can solve them" so I gave it to him but he just made it worse so now I don't even have the green  on one side and I have been trying to solve it for a while but I am still stuck. What about you guys? Are you in a similar situation? Can you solve the rubix cube? Please tell me that's why I made the thread. Don't do drugs. Stay in school. Have a nice day.

On your rubix cube question: haven't tried it in years, but can remember not being particularly good at it. I guess you just need to learn a bunch of tricks to at least get a grip at it.

Now I'm actually more interested in you're claim not to do drugs. Have you heard/read Sam Harris' position on drugs? (see here) It's pretty much my position on it as well. Would love to hear from you why you think we shouldn't (never?) do drugs.

Please tone down on the use of emojis (or whatever the right word is).

On topic, an infinite amount of time. I have never solved a rubix cube.

@ Volenta, I would argue you should not do drugs for the same reason you should not drink alcohol; avoiding brain damage. I'll listen to the podcast you posted, perhaps it will change my mind.

THIS THREAD IS ABOUT RUBIX CUBES!!:
I'm just asking for a more moderate view, that's all. If you don't want it to be responded to, don't add it to your comment (or place it in your signature). But I will leave it there then.

Edit:
@miniboes
The dangers of drugs aren't always brain damage. Drugs is a term that defines a wide range of substances that can be completely different in it's effect and it's dangers.

Yep. Anybody who drinks tea does a drug: Caffeine

I'm most concerned with the use to abuse potential. And the legality (when something is illegal, it's inherently wrong for a very different reason, and that is the ethical problems of the black market and supporting organized crime- of course, that's just as much the fault of the legal system for making it illegal and creating that market, but doesn't excuse participating in it).

I don't do rubix. They're mostly tedious processed based things; they're far too complicated to solve with pure abstract spatial reasoning.

It may seem counter-intuitive, but simpler puzzles actually engage the brain more, because they can be processed mentally rather than using memorized algorithms.

I found the psychedelic parts of the link you posted very intriguing but, I wouldn't compare LSD and psilocybin together.
Lsd is a man created substance, psilocybin is a naturally occurring substance.
Psilocybin is a healer actually said to recover lost/ brain cells link
"Researchers from the University of Florida recently published a report in the journal Experimental Brain Research on their findings that psilocybin can bind to special receptors in the brain that stimulate healing and growth. "
Unfortunately it seems the testing is all done on mice, take it how you please.
Magic or not we should all be eating more mushrooms, they are great vegan source of vitamin d3 and all of the b vitamins besides b-12 I would put money on it that mushrooms grown in shit will have b-12 in them!
One must be cogent of their step.- Catherine

Drugs are more interesting than rubix cubes, clearly.
