Do muslims believe theocracy is good???

Post by Rem »

Lets look at history here.

Christianity had king, priesthood etc. Religion played a huge role back then in the dark ages. But then inventors, science started to florish.

So let me ask this, places in the middle east were islam is dominant have a theocracy. Or to translate "Sharia Laws" religious laws.
Haven't they learned from History that theocracy just dont work?. Its inequality, it differs when one practice a religion aslong as it respects freedom of religion, human rights etc, then it has all the freedom to believe in whatever they worship.

But i just don't understand their logic in repeating mistakes from history?

To be fair, in the middle ages the Arab world was way more advanced in science than Europe. If you devote your whole life to a belief then it's only logical to let people that do the same rule. In my opinion, a theocracy makes perfect sense if most people share the same religion. In a democracy they would elect a Muslim party anyway. The problem is in religion itself if you ask me.

It's the conservative part of religion. The need of others to agree with you completely, while people are and shall always be different. The trick is to accept diversity as it is, instead of opposing it. Conflicting conservative ideas are never going to match, and that's why I also believe theocracy never will work and every attempt will ultimately fail.

I don't believe theocracy works either, just that it makes sense if practically your whole population is Muslim. It is of course extremely faulty and should never be implemented. Not everything that makes sense should be done.

Yes. I understand what you were saying, the point is that that kind of reasoning can be applied to lots of ideologies. For (oversimplified) example: communism would be nice, as long as everybody does what lies in her capabilities to do and not taking more than she needs to. Things like these rely heavily on premises that are unrealistic and to ideal to be true. That's why it's better to avoid it altogether. ;)
