Philosophical Vegan Forum

I'm looking to gather a reading list of non-fiction texts that would be particularly of interest to atheist vegans, or skeptic animal rights advocates. Not necessarily things talking about those specific topics, but also topics you would highly suspect people of this forum would be interested in. Articles, anthologies, epubs and books welcome for recommendation.

I'll start off by recommending this interview on veganism by transhumanist philosopher David Pearce.

"Better Never to Have Been: The Harm of Coming into Existence" - David Benatar
"Essays by Schopenhauer" (https://ebooks.adelaide.edu.au/s/schope ... ur/essays/)
also the books "The Selfish Gene" and "The Extended Phenotype" by Richard Dawkin are good. "Gun, Germs, and Steel" - Jared Diamond, is also an interesting read.

It's not much in the way of a text, but I relatively recently discovered this, which was very interesting:

There are a few articles; they're coming along, and it's really hopeful to see people working on this issue.

Surely Steven Pinker's The Better Angels of Our Nature. All the rights revolutions are being discussed; civil, women, children, gay, and of course animal rights. Pinker is arguing that reason and the humanist outlook on life is (part of) the reason that violence is declining and society is progressing. I can totally understand why Peter Singer is enormously positive about this book.
